Dying Fetus: Stop at nothing
28/07/11 || InquisitorGeneralis
Inquisitor’s Introduction: Hey Domination Nation, I am sure you are all sick of The Inquisitor’s constant rambling about how awesome Dying Fetus are, how much he bangs staffer Daemonomania’s mother while she feeds him prime rib, and how he loves metal from his home state of Maryland. Well, he hears you because he is sick of writing for you. So, in an effort to mix things up he has chosen to interview the biggest fan of Dying Fetus that he know… himself! Or, in this case his real self also known as Scott. So, sit back and enjoy the best interview of anyone ever done on any website. Ever.
Inquisitor: So Scott, let’s get right to it. What are your thoughts on Dying Fetus’ 2004 record “Stop at Nothing”?
Scott: I think that the douchewipes on your forums who bitch about it this record, especially the production, should go fuck themselves. Is this the best Fetus album? Certainly not, but when you look at the talent that left he band before this, and what they were able to put out, it is pretty impressive. Losing talent like founding member, bassist, and singer Jason Netherton along with drummer Kevin Talley and guitar player deluxe Sparky Voyles would kill most bands. But Dying Fetus are not most bands. There are death/grind masters and this is a record with cock-pounding punch. “One shot, one kill” and “Vengeance unleashed” are two of the best Fetus tracks from any of the band’s many line-ups. I don’t get the whining about the production, I think it sounds fine except for the drums are a bit too high in the mix. The kicks hit hard, and my gay ass likes that!
IG’s note: See how gay he is? The mere mention of Fetus-related whining set this guy into a rage that required a block of muenster cheese and a diet shasta to help abate. I hate this guy. Self-loathing is a cruel mistress.
Inquisitor: I hear you are super cool and know some ex-Fetus members? Is that true? Are you in fact as cool as your say you are? Or just a giant windbag?
Scott: I’m down with Sparky, who played on “Destroy the Opposition”. We have discussed “Stop at Nothing” and he is a fan of the record. He told me that drummer Eric Sayenga was formerly the band’s drum tech. Sayenga tears it up with loads of blasting and some impressive double bass. It is a shame he did not last for any more album’s after this.
Inquisitor: So, recommended tracks?
Scott: Just listen to the beginnings of “Schematics” or “One shot, one kill” and you will know that Dying Fetus is not fucking around. “Stop at Nothing” definitely has more of a death metal feel than previous Fetus records, especially in terms of production and song structure. “Abandon all hope” is long, brutal, and features several groovy breakdowns that really make it stand out. “Onslaught of malice” and the title track are also is more death-oriented and both are pretty killer.
Inquisitor: So, what about flaws and/or drawbacks? Do you see any here?
Scott: Yeah, there is not too much variety on here. If you like one song, you will like ‘em all. If this is not your style, you’re fuck metal retard.
Inquisitor: No sir, it is you who are the fuck metal retard. However, I can not disagree with you on “Stop at Nothing”; it is a brutal and highly enjoyable record. “Vengeance unleashed”, “One shot, one kill”, “Abandon all hope”, and “Onslaught of malice” are all up there with any other tracks from earlier Fetus albums. My only complaint here is the previously mentioned lack of variety. Any last words, Scotty Too Hotty?
Scott: While not being the best Fetus record, or even second best, “Stop at Nothing” is still worth owning. When you consider the changes that occurred in the band prior to this release, it is even more impressive. I give it two thumbs up!
IG: Well, I give it a 7,5 buddy. So you can suck on it… me.
